3in30 Challenge

3in30 Challenge

So, I have decided to take a break and focus on me and my spiritual and emotional growth. I have decided to do this challenge and along the way am also trying to finish up my reiki course and centering myself along the way.

I will make an effort to post daily and take the "me" time needed to succeed at my goals and in doing so will have finally done something I am truly proud to exclaim about!

Love and Belief,

Beauty Advice: Makeup Expiration Dates

I have often wondered if I am doing right by my skin, eyes and lips. After some research, I found that I have some work on my hands!

Is there an expiration date to makeup?

Answer: According to a March 9, 2000, FDA report (revised October 15, 2002), “Consumers should be aware that expiration dates are simply ‘rules of thumb,’ and that a product’s safety may expire long before the expiration date if the product has not been properly stored. Cosmetics that have been improperly stored – for example, exposed to high temperatures or sunlight, or opened and examined by consumers prior to final sale – may deteriorate substantially before the expiration date. On the other hand, products stored under ideal conditions may be acceptable long after the expiration date has been reached.”

Foundation: 3-6 months
Concealer: Wand applicator concealers should be tossed within 6 months since they’re likely to grow bacteria. Stick, twist-up tubes, or compact concealers can last up to 12 months, especially if you use a makeup brush to apply the product.
Pressed powder cosmetics: Facial powder, blush and eyeshadow should be thrown out after one year. If you get an eye infection, however, you’ll have to toss out any eyeshadow you’ve used, to avoid re-infecting yourself.
Lip gloss and lipstick: 1 year
Mascara: You should always replace mascara after 3 months. And toss it immediately if it becomes dry, or you develop an eye infection. Remember: Never, ever
share mascara!
Eye and lip pencils: If you sharpen them every few days, makeup pencils can last a year or longer. It’s time to trash them when they become dry, crumbly, and hard to apply.
All-natural cosmetics: Because these products do not contain preservatives, they should be used or discarded within 6 months.

Here are some more tips that will help you make the most of your makeup:
1. Don’t ever share cosmetics.
2. Don’t put your fingers into the product. Use the applicator provided, or a makeup sponge.
3. Keep containers tightly closed, and store them in a cool, dry place.
4. Don’t use water or saliva to ease the application of a product. Doing so introduces bacteria into the product, which can cause a host of problems.
5. Immediately toss the product out if there is a change of color, texture, or consistency; if the ingredients settle or separate; or if an odor develops.

End of April PUSH

I often find myself having to PUSH.
Pray
Until
Something
Happens
Not a bad thing, but definitely wish more people would believe in me and would believe in the passion I have for the wonderful product. As the end of April approaches, I find myself almost begging women to take advantage of the opportunity to get the starter kit for $50. For all that is in the kit, I find it hard to believe that more women wouldn't just gobble up the opportunity. Mary Kay Corporate didn't have a stock pile of starter kits and suddenly decide to get rid of the surplus in April. Mary Kay Corporate wanted to get the product and opportunity out to the masses. Of all the women that get the kit, there may only be a few that decide to sell. There always is a risk in taking a chance, but Mary Kay Ash did just that when she started her business. She offered the opportunity to women because she saw how the workplace is geared towards men. Who better to sell makeup than a woman?!?! The company was started and continues to pride itself on The Golden Rule. Each meeting starts with a prayer and ends with a prayer. How many times can you say that you started your work day with your coworkers with a prayer? The women in my group are strong, educated women who are supportive of each other and take time to give recognition for any and all goals met.

I have the most supportive and motivating director ever! Robin was the reason I decided to start my own business. While I am not one to want to dress up and I have had a year of down in the dumps because of the loss of my mother and sister, she truly inspired and supported me to get to the Dallas convention and get to the meeting last weekend. I am so much a better person for it! I feel a sisterhood with these like minded women and they feel like family. I wish that everyone could have a job where they feel excited to go and spend time with the people they work with and at the end of the night, feel so refreshed with passion for the opportunity and the product we use and love.

My Mary Kay Site is exciting to me. I have been able to put my business out there and have the flexibility to take credit cards securely on my site and not have my customers worry that their information is being used for anything but the products they order! With the online catalog and virtual makeover at your fingertips, you will be able to order on your time and not feel pressured to buy this or that. While I welcome the opportunity to sit down with my customers and do skin care classes or facials, it is not always a necessity.
My prayer for today is that my family and friends take the opportunity to get the great product at this amazing price and that of all of the ones that do, that at least one decides that she TOO can be her own boss!
Many blessings and may the peace be with you!

Mid April

So here we are in the middle of April. I am still looking for those women who use and love Mary Kay to take advantage of the starter kit at a steal of a deal of $50. This kit comes with full size bottles of all the facial cleaning stuff. You also get to choose if you want cream foundation or the mineral foundation. You get 1/2 off your products and you get this awesome Mary Kay bag to hold all of your stuff. I am just floored by all the awesomeness that I have and want to have facials to show how wonderful these products truly are! Here's to giving it to God and his helping hands and words to the ears of the ladies out there about this great deal!

Momentum

So, I have been really working to spread the opportunity I was blessed with, and the reception is so-so. I would just be thrilled if the girls would take me up on the $50 starter kit because that in itself is a wonderful investment for personal use. You can't buy all the stuff that is in the kit for $50! Not even using a discount. I have prayed on it and I will just keep it up and P.U.S.H.
I have made it my mission to spread the excitement about the Mary Kay products and the Mary Kay opportunity. For me, it has been a self growth experience. I have challenged myself to do things that I haven't had the ganas (guts) to do. I took a leap of faith and invested in myself and Mary Kay. I asked my Godmother to help me on my quest to success and she said YES! I was certain if I asked I would be told no and then I would have hurt feelings, but she believes in me and my conviction to excel. I love her dearly for taking that leap with me. I started a blog. I had been wanting to start a blog for the longest time. It was going to be about and for single moms and the struggles I have had and am working to overcome as well as highlight my handsome little boy, who is my reason for living. He is my inspiration. He is my motivation. He is the greatest adventure I have ever had and he is my world. I will do everything I can to make sure that he gets the life that I feel he deserves. I want him to have better than I have had and teach him the lessons my mom taught me. I miss my mom and sister so very much since they passed a year ago and I remind my son every day about them so that he doesn't forget them. The Mary Kay ladies have given me so much spirit, understanding and motivation that I want every woman that doesn't get that to experience it at least ONCE! I work full time in a man owned business where there are only two women working here and I am the main one. While that is great, I don't get the recognition for all the work I have put in like I did when I went to a conference for Mary Kay and I got recognized and had only been in the business for 2 weeks!
My mission is and will be to get women to believe in me and themselves. I will do my very best to keep motivating, inspiring and empowering other women to invest in themselves and watch great things happen. It is time that women take their step towards financial freedom and do what they know how to do. Most all women wear makeup. Most all wash their faces every morning and night. Why not educate women on a regimen that is great for the skin and complexion?!!?
